Tirta Empul temple is a Hindu Balinese water temple located near the town of Tampaksiring, the temple compound consists of a Petirtaan or bathing structure, famous for its holy spring water, where Balinese Hindus go to for ritual purification. The temple pond has a spring that gives out fresh water regularly, which Balinese Hindus consider being holy or Amritha Tirta Empul means Holy Spring in Balinese.

For most of the time, Tirta Empul is believed as a source of clean water regarded as holy water used for Hindu rituals.

Dress Code

when entering the temple or holy place they need to wear a sarong with shaft wear on the waist. it's a typical dress for prayer for Hindu's in Bali. for visitors/tourists, you can bring your own sarong and scarf. otherwise, you can rent it from the operator, but you need to rent a special dress for bathing or you can bring your own.

the right time to visit the temple is early in the morning. it's not many visitors and do not visit the temple on weekend on Indonesian holiday because it will be crowded
